M5 Spindle Drive E-mail

The VS-626M5 is a highly reliable AC vector controlled inverter drive designed for controlling high speed, compact AC motors used in machine tool spindle drive applications. Vector controlled technology through the use of a digital signal processor and proprietary algorithms for speed, torque, and current control allows for minimum speed and torque variations during cutting. This impacts accuracy and surface finish of precision parts. 100% back-to-line power regeneration provides quick spindle deceleration times not limited by the ohmic value of externally mounted regeneration resistors. This allows for faster tool changes and increased machine productivity.

Design Features for M5 Spindle Drive


  • Compact: 350mm Height Book Structure
    All units (servo unit as well as converter and inverter) are aligned at the same height of 350mm (13.78”). M5 system has converter with power regenerative function (CIMR-MR5) and vector control inverter (CIMR-M5).
  • High Precision and Servo Performance
    Highly accurate speed control is achieved by high frequency PWM control due to high speed IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor). Rotational deviation is reduced by suppressing current distortion which causes torque ripple.
    Servo Performance is improved for tapping applications by the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processor).
  • Enhanced Orientation Functions
    Orientation time is reduced by a position control using a high resolution encoder orientation signal. When the motor axis and the load axis are connected 1:1, any position orientation using the motor encoder can be achieved without adding any options.
